Well, we delivered our boy to the MTC (Missionary Training Center) today. He'll spend 3 months there, learning to speak Russian and other important Missionary skills, before they send him out to the Ukraine, Donetsk Mission.
I can't imagine him being any more prepared than he is. He is unbelievably mature. He is so excited to serve the people of the Ukraine and teach them about the gospel of Jesus Christ. We are so proud of this amazing young man. He will represent The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints well.

I'm so glad you were able to come out to take him to the MTC. What a wonderful blessing!
You must be so proud of him!!
What neat pictures of such a big day! He looks ready to go!
Wow, What a great day. I've got just over a year until my #1 heads out.
Love the old pictures, amazing!
Oh, and the embroidered cookies, too cute for words, I'm jealous.
Star-ey-shina Shipp...LOVE IT! I clicked on the pic so I could see the name tag. I can't wait to write to him in Russian! I'm supposed to be going to Ukraine in April of '10 with my friend April for the Temple dedication, so maybe we'll run into him there somewhere!
♥ He looks very mature and a lot older than his 19 years! Handsome guy you have there! :)
Oh, I forgot he was going to the Ukraine. That is where my son-in-law went on his mission.
He will have a wonderful mission, I'm sure!!!
I love that he is serving his mission in Russia. Working at the airport there are so many Russian women who are bathroom attendants. I love them! Seriously, I LOVE THEM!! They are so kind and they have been teaching me russian. Trust me their English is far better than my Russian. They all live in a community close to each other. One lady is in her 50's and she is going to school to learn English. 3 years ago she had little English. Now, we carry on conversations. Before, we would exchange smiles and then I asked her to teach me little words. INSTANT ice breaker! My sil is great friends with a woman who adopted 2 children from Russia and one of the many orphanages their.
I wish your son all the success he could possibly have. I know he will do so well. He has that look about him. He is prepared. You did good, mom.
Great pictures. You must be so proud of him.
How bitter sweet. it makes me think of how it will be when our boys go into the mission field. Our oldest boy is 12 so it will be a while. Who knows our girls may end up going sooner than the boys.
I hope this will be a special Christmas for you all.
I bet he'll be a great missionary! He looks so happy to be there!
My husband's parents couldn't make it when he went into the MTC. So I went and we told them I was his sister. They probably totally knew I wasn't. Hehehe! But hey, I was a supportive girlfriend, right?
How wonderful for all of you to see him off to the MTC.
he looks so ready. i can only imagine the hearts he will touch.
may the blessings come flowing in!
Those are great pictures! Even after talking to you and knowing how okay you were, I can't believe how strong you are! I get misty eyed just looking at those pictures, he's a big kid now! You did a great job with him!!
