Letter to Stephenie ***SPOILER ALERT***

Stephenie, Stephenie! What have they done to your fabulous book? The meadow scene was supposed to be so beautiful and romantic, so how come they decided to turn it into a scene from a horror flik? Why did they have some chick from Famous Sams do all the hair instead of paying the big bucks to a pro?
I feel almost guilty saying that I'm not sure I loved it. I wanted to love it. I received it with open arms. I went willing to overlook a low budget and bad hair. (We all knew that was coming). But, why, oh why, did they screw up the mood of my beloved meadow scene?

No, it didn't dazzle us. I liked it. But not for itself, mainly for what I wanted it to be. I will buy it and watch it, for love of the book. But, sadly, it didn't live up to my hopes and dreams. But, what in life ever does? Oh well.

I'm still praying for a sequel. With a bigger budget, and hoping that they let you write the next screen play, so they will stick to the book more faithfully.

Still a fan,

I had a feeling it wouldn't live up to expectations. I am bummed!

And the pictures are hilarious!

I am going tonight, and totally expecting it NOT to live up to my expectations, or the book.
Movies never do you know.
And ever since the trailers, I haven't thought they did a very good job with the actor choices...but that's just me. :)
I wonder how Stephenie feels...

I like your "vampire" eyes in your pictures. Were you drinking blood in your vamptabulous glitter cups? Hehe.

SuperCoolMom said...

Yeah. I totally left the eyes red so you'd know what kind of Vamps we really are. (No vegetarians in this group. All strictly Man-Eaters. Except the boys of course.)

Oh No!!! My daughter adn her friends are going to see it tomorrow and they are PUMPED! When I took her to see Secret Life of Bees, it wasnt like the book and she was pissed! I can't imagine how mad she will be at this movie!

Thank you,
PS Great blog!

Thanks for posting your link on my blog!! Yeah, I'd heard about the meadow scene being different.

But it sounds (and looks) like you had fun. Awesome for you.

Going tonight at 9.......
I know I will be dissapointed, as "book movies" usually leave me.
Hopefully the next 3 will be better!!

I'm visiting from SITS :) I just knew that it would never be able to amount to the images in my head... I haven't seen it yet but am trying to keep an open mind as well because I can't have high expectations... :( Cute pics!!

Visiting from SITS :)

I went to see it last night too, and I went with NO expectations - and really liked it! Perhaps that's what makes the difference...Movies are never as good as the book, but it was still a lot of fun.

I actually thought it was VERY true to the book! Hmmm - maybe I was delirious from staying up too late...?

Happy Friday!

I knew in my heart it wouldn't be the same - the movies never are - books are so much better!

awww...sorry it didn't meet your expecations. i hate when a movie can't compare to the book.

the pics are all soooooo cute! looks liek the company was good even if the movie wasn't

Very dissapointed last night. But as I think about it today I think it's growing on me a little.

I haven't bought my tickets yet because there is no way it can live up to the book and I have to prepare myself to be disappointed.

Killlashandra said...

Oh no you're review does not bode well. I'm step daughter and I are planning to see it too and that's terrible news about the meadow. The meadow becomes this central place in the books how sad.

I was really looking forward to the movie! I know that reading any book before watching the movie is disappointing (ex. P.S. I Love You..book is SO much better!)

Oh well.

So I just bought the book from Sam's Club for $4.. maybe I should see the movie before I read it. What do you think?

Still looks like a fun night!

Chris said...

I'll be sure my wife does not read this -- at least for a couple of days.
Did you go to a midnight showing?

Sue said...

Haven't seen it yet..

Most book==to movies disappoint..

Oh well!! still looks like you had a great time.

Oh, so glad someone else agrees! I liked Bella and Edward but Jacob, Jasper and Dr. Cullen..not doing it for me. I thought Charlie was great. Some of the script I liked better than the book. I am hoping with a bigger budget they will be able to work on hair, makeup, and special effects. Don't get me wrong, there were some great parts to the movie, however there were some parts that dragged as well.

I haven't read the books, I know I know *GASP*, but sorry to hear the movie didn't live up to so many of you gal pals expectations. I'm hearing it all over the online world, so it's not just you!

As for the Do I dazzle you shirt? HILARIOUSLY CUTE!

Hi! Visiting from SITS. Girl, I couldn't agree with you more! I went at 12:01 Friday morning, dragging my 21 year old son along and he left wishing he's seen Bolt instead. I knew there was no way the movie could be as good as the book, they never are, but could it have at least been BETTER????

If I was Stephenie Meyer I would be VERY upset!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is exactly how I felt about it....

You are too hilarious! I commented only happy things on your sisters post! I liked it, no I loved it! I have been trying to get over the things that weren't like the book. I just keep telling myself that it's never exactly like the book. The meadow scene was a huge disapointment. But still loved it and I'm so in love with Edward, bad hair low budget and all. Even tho my true love is Jacob, I have to say I fell for Edward! Yum-E!!

Okay and I'm not going to get into a whole thing with each character and all that. (we'll email and discuss) BUT, what the hell happened to Jasper!? I mean SERIOUSLY, is it just me, or did he look a little bit like Edward Sissor Hands? Yikes!!!

Okay I'm done! Loved it, I'd let Edward bite me! hee hee
(crap I need to get a life!)

KATE said...

Wow I can't spell, sorry! I meant Edward Scissor Hands!

tiki_lady said...

i agree too, i didn't think I would pay to see it twice, but I did. I took my daughter on midnight and then Mr. Incredible wanted to see it so we saw it on Saturday. For a low budget film it was ok.

At first, the way Edward spoke was annoying. I thought he was a bit retarded! why did he talk so slow??? then he grew on me.

As much as I did enjoy it, I do agree. I felt dissapointed in the acting too. There are a few parts that are flat out creepy. I do have to say it did hold my interest for sure. We will have to see what the next movie brings us.

After hearing and reading all the reviews of the movie, I'm glad I didn't lose sleep and go to that midnight showing. I'll see it sometime soon...maybe.

Mamarazzi said...

HUGS!!

ok i finally read this and fully agree. but was willing to see past it for the story. the hair and makeup was sorely lacking. but it really did a good job of following the book, with the exception of being so short.
'
NOW WHAT THE HELL IS MY FAT BELLY ON YOUR BLOG FOR? SERIOUSLY REMOVE IT OR EDIT OUT THE MUFFIN TOP! crop it. or smooth it on photobucket. NOT CUTE! thanks heaps.

yeah i just needed a couple days to enjoy the story. and be excited for the movie to be out. it was almost as exciting as black friday is for me. i had to give myself a few days to savor it. and upon seeing it a second time. the same things bugged me again. but i did notice other things more. that i liked. so yes watching it over and over again it will fully grow on me .
here's hoping the next 3 are higher budget. AND longer. what is wrong with a 6 hour movie adaptation? i would totally be thrilled to sit there for it.

Haddorkus said...

I did enjoy it. I look for differences between books and movies for comparing and contrasting to see which one I like better. I am a huge dork that way. I'll think, if that was in the book would I like that, etc?

My huge moment was Carlisle, he was so pretty. I love him. I have always been in love with Jacob and was not in love with that guy.

Also, I didn't like that Bella played so timid and scared. You don't get that from the story. That was one difference that I couldn't get behind. Bella refusal to be scared is what makes her weird and unique.
