Photostory Friday - Flag Wavin'

PhotoStory Friday
Hosted by Cecily and MamaGeek

Two of my boys at a Scouting Event. It must have been about 10 years ago (judging by the approximate age of the boys and the size of that guy's cel phone). This is a yearly scout fundraiser. Each troop hosts a booth and sells tickets. At this booth, the boys were probably waiting in line to walk across a rope bridge or something equally exciting.

And in observance of Independence Day - a picture of little me (holding the flag) with my Grandma and my cousin Susan. It was 1970 and I was three years old. My sister and I had spent a week in Prescott, Arizona with my Grandma and Grandpa. Every summer they would go spend a week or two there so that Grandpa could race his horses and ride in the parade. On this morning, I was too afraid to ride in the Parade. My sister was riding with Grandpa, while I stayed on the sidewalk to wave my flag as they rode by. I remember the dress (my favorite), I remember the parade, and I remember getting a set of plastic teacups that I spent hours stacking - teacup, saucer, teacup, saucer.

1976 Olympic Joke: How do they fill the Olympic Pool? Mark Spitz (If you've never heard the name, you're too young. Don't worry about it.)

What great pictures. Sounds like you have some great memories. I am trying to start traditions on holidays so my kids will have great memories.

Boy, just realized you are the same age as my oldest child! Her son is probably about the same age now that your older boy was on this photo -she got a late start, ya know. (Lateness seems to be her strong point -a week late arriving into the world and late for darned near everything ever since then too!)
Love the pictures though and the story about you and the flag too.
Have a great 4th.
Peace.

While we've never gotten our boys into scouting, some of my favorite pictures of my brothers are their scouting activities!

LOVE the vintage pic of you!

I never did figure out how to make pictures bigger. It was too confusing for me. I'm not the brightest.

Good memories. I love holiday traditions. My kids all hate fireworks, so we basically hide inside all day. No 4th of July traditions here. They've even decided they're scared of the parade, so that was out this year too! It's getting worse instead of better!

Great pics! I was checking out your recipes, as always and have one to share. If you worry about the red punch on the carpet, this is a great one.
Lemon Water
5 quarts water
1 TB citric acid
1 tb lemon extract
3 cups sugar (or splenda)
disolve sugar in 1 quart water, combine all ingredients, chill serve over ice.
Thanks for sharing all your talents.
