Amish Friendship Bread Fiasco

Ever made Amish Friendship Bread? You babysit a bag of sourdough starter for 10 days and then finally get to make the bread and spread the love by giving four friends the joy of a baggy of sourdough starter.

My friends lucked out. Wolfman and BittE were helping me bake. It was going well. I went to get the gallon Ziplocs and a measuring cup. I only turned my back for a second...

But BittE is fast. She dumped about a cup of cinnamon in the batter. Instead of bagging up cinnamon tainted starter, I had to bake a quadruple batch of bread (after scooping out a reasonable amount of cinnamon.

A couple of days later she helped herself to the cinnamon sugar. She dumped the entire container on the kitchen counter, floors, and herself before I discovered what my sweet girl had done. I think this is why they're called "the terrible two's".

I'm laughing with you on this one! Been there, done that with the Amish Friendship Bread and the gallon ziplock bag searches, etc. plus trying to find people who wanted me to bequeath them some of the starter mix too. And the kids, who in a blink of an eye, manage to screw up various things -often things that I am quite capable on my own of screwing them up too -like sewing/embroidery when a certain five-year-old here decides a little ink penning on my fabric is needed, or when she or her little brother decide to dump whatever they can get there grubby little paws on all over the counter or the dining room table or well, whatever! Yeah, nice days they are, huh?

The first time I had even heard of this bread was last week, on someone's blog!

If you are going to have a fiasco---let it be making Amish friendship bread with a 2 yr. old!

What a little cutie!

we love amish friendship bread. So when my son's girlfriend sent home a starter with him, I was thrilled. Then something happened I would find it open or someone would drop it out off the counter leaving on the floor because they were just looking at it. Until the bag broke. No Friendship bread here. Will have to make some when we get moved.

Your little one is so cute!

She must be related to my boys because they LOVE anything cinnamon. I love Amish Friendship Bread but usually get sick of babysitting the back after about 1 cycle.
